Can't Stop Listening///Perfume Genius
Mike Hadreas of Perfume Genius totally kills me. I discovered his tender and heartfelt music via one of my favorite music blogs, La Blogotheque. They make these really beautiful videos that help me fall even more in love with the sweet ass music they post.

Engagement Photo Shoots///♥ and 1974
Jessi and John - where to start, where to start. I feel priveledged to know these two amazingly positive and creative Portland souls. Jessi is one of those girls that just has "that spark(le)" and John (equally sparkly) picked up on that. They are now engaged and "team mates for life", as Jessi likes to put it. They compliment each other in ways I have seen few couples do - together they are Creatives, super business savvy, fashionable, successful and most importantly; a blast to hang out with.
When I saw their engagement shoot today I knew everyone else out there had to see it too. Jessi aptly called the shoot Love & 1974. The two spent the day in downtown Portland's Ace Hotel decked out in their parent's vintage swag. The fuschia dress is what John's mom wore when leaving for her own honeymoon 40 years ago. Aww, these two...hip and sentimental! The beautiful photos were taken by Amanda K Photography who literally captured J&J's personalities with her camera.
Check out more shots on Jessi's Blog and the entire shoot here .

Love and Marriage
I just watched this sweet sweet video of a young and happy couple choosing a baby name. There is beauty in this video. In the love these two seem to share.
It made me think of a moment Ketch and I had a couple evenings ago.
The other day he made me sad. Not in the "he hurt my feelings" sort of way. More in the "his idea of what love and relationships are in general just sucks" kind of way. It made me sad for him and for me.
We were all snuggled up on the couch watching a new favorite show called Modern Family (watch it, it's fun! But that's beside the point.) and began a conversation about one of the actors from the show - Ed O'Neil. Otherwise known as Al Bundy from the much beloved (or hated in mine and my mom's case) show Married with Children. I was saying how I enjoyed his new character so much more. Al Bundy was just so gross. So unhappy. The whole show was. Ew. Then Brad said, "I don't know, I like the show. I think he was just acting the way men feel when they're married."

WHOA WHOA WHOA! Hold the phone! Ew. "That's what you think marriage has to be like? Hateful and spiteful, fight filled and complacent." Sounds like hell. It makes me sad that this is the impression he's gotten from the marriages he's seen in his life. The examples have apparently not been the most positive.
I hope to change his view on this. Not that we are ready for marriage. But it's something I want in my life. And when you invest time in a relationship, it's impossible not to look into the future. Because all I want is a partner in crime. A lover and a fighter that has my back. I want to wake up in the morning tomorrow and 20 years from now and still be happy to see his perfect sleeping face. I don't want to take him for granted or feel taken for granted. I want to feel like I'm part of a team. The best team. He is my Ketchup and I am his Mustard. I love him so.

I guess we'll see as life plays out. Que Sera Sera.
(Since posting this I have watched more videos of the sweet couple. They're happy laughter and pretty voices are an inspiration and lesson in love. So cute)

Ever the romantic
I love reading Pacing the Panic Room. Every few months I sit down at my computer and just scroll through his lovely written posts. He is so very in love with his wife, her son and their new baby.
Look at what they did when they needed a date night.

Painted portraits of each other rather than going to the bar.

Portland to Sonoma...A Roadtrip: Leg One
So Ketch and I took a road trip back in June and I've finally gotten around to processing the photos. This wasn't just any road trip for me. It was the BIG meet-the-ENTIRE-family road trip and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I was basically full of butterflies. I've never been with someone who's family is far away. Almost a year in and what if we don't get along? What if we don't mesh? GA! When I said this to Ketch all he said was, "You and me, we are the same. I love you, they will love you." And so with my love driving and I sitting shotgun, we held hands and I took a deep breath...and had one of the best trips ever.
We woke up super early to try and get down to San Francisco in one, easy fell swoop. We made PB&J's and stocked up on fluids. This drive would be no problem. It was nice and cool in oregon that morning. Overcast like it usually is until it burns off around noon. We got in the car, I kissed his cheek and we were off.

(note: my shoes are dolce vita. the style isn't around anymore but the brand always put out amazing sandals. They are also having the most amazing sandal sale online right now!)

We were already singing oldies and I think I was already munching on a sandwich when there was this loud BAM! We though we had run over something, but all seemed well. A minute later though he yelled out, "WE'VE GOT A FLAT TIRE!" Ofcourse we had to cross 4 lanes of freeway traffic to make it over to the side of the road. And yep, thar she blows, the flattest tire I ever did see. We didn't even make it past Bridgeport Village...I was ready to say "screw this" let's just go shopping (Bridgeport is one of those weird suburban meccas with an Anthro) but instead "I have roadside assistance," is what chimed out. Good girlfriend, good! Whew. But Brad wouldn't have no ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE. "I've got this he said..."
