A Beautiful Reclaimed Sink///

This rustic bathroom is stunning. The reclaimed sink kills me - I die. Retrouvius Reclamation and Design out of London is the genius behind this space.

Save It With Wood

I love these sweet little wood encased 2 GB USB.

Buy at AIAIAI - and the plus side? Since they are made from real wood each one is different!

Waxed Canvas Lunch Tote///

I try to make my own lunch everyday.  It usually involves me actually DRIVING home to make a lunch since I am relatively close to work.  Not exactly the greenest option out there and not sure if it's really helping my pocket book either since I'm spending the $ on gas.

This lil waxed canvas tote from Artifact Bags makes me want to remember to pack a lunch everday. It's so perfect.

Ethereal Handrails///

I love the ethereal nature of these handrails. They bring so much drama to such a simple stairwell. Simply stunning.

Hypoallergenic and Hip///WeWOOD Watches

I've been looking into purchasing a good quality watch and came across this neato brand the other day! How cool are these watches by WeWOOD? Made out of wood, thus hypoallergenic for those of us with metal sensitivities AND they  plant a tree for every watch purchased.

I love this classic men's watch style. Yes, please!

Plumen///Best CFL design yet

How beautiful are these CFLs by Plumen!?  Finally, an efficient and well designed light bulb that can replace the Edison bulb in form and function. They'll be available in the US at the end of this month.

Crude Awakening /// Photography by Jane Fulton Alt

An in your face take on the Gulf oil spill. I hate that these photos ever had to be made but I love that atleast something slightly positive has spawned from it: creativity - a and (hopefully) awareness - b.

I love///Bhalo

I'm coveting Bhalo clothing. All of the fabric is Fair Trade, made by women in Bangladesh -- Proving that desirable fashion can be fair.

THRIFT SCORE////Wall Art

/////
Here's lil white owl with some of my thrift store finds from the weekend. All for under $20. BOOM.

Here is the perfect American Flag, the kind of thing you can never actually look for, you just come up on. It is cotton with shaggy yellowed edges which means it probably outside of a building for 30 years.
/////

This is a 1966 fabric calendar that I love. The image is sweet and picturesque.
/////
I've been on the hunt for portraits lately. This image of a young gypsy girl is the first painting in my portrait collection.

And last but not least on the far right is my favorite piece that I found. A very old black and white of photograph of a native american woman and her teepee. She's carrying wood on her back and the ground is covered with snow. I ode to simpler, harder times.

Any recommendations on how to hang all of these? I don't know where to start.

Weekends///Project Time

Walking home from work the other day when I came across a whole stockpile of laminated plywood that was being recycled.

I went straight home and grabbed my wheel barrow, rolled it down the street and grabbed all of the wood that looked like it could be used for projects.

Once I got home, I opened a bottle of wine and started drawing.  I love when arts happens out of circumstance.
More to come.

Shop Love///Brook Farm General Store

Over the last couple of years, I've grown an affinity for sustainable products.  Sustainable can mean a lot of things, one of which is well designed, quality products. Not having to buy items over and over again is the easiest way to be sustainable.  Just make the right choice the 1st time you purchase a product and you won't have to keep buying it. That's where Brook Farm General Store comes in. In my opinion, they stock well designed, high quality, every day products that are beautiful and timeless. I already own a couple of the products they sell like the Vers Bamboo Cell Phone Case and Bensimon shoes. Both are two of my favorite things I own.
Here are a few more of my favorites from the general store.

Craft///Sustain: Lightbulb Spice Rack

Working in the Schoolhouse Electric showroom is a glorious thing. Being surrounded by beautifully designed lighting every day is really fantastic.  But it has made me even more aware of how many light bulbs are going into landfills every day. I have been taking a lot of the dead bulbs home and have plans for some sort of pretty hanging piece.

I love that other people are reworking them into functional pieces in addition to artsy statements.  I've even seen people use them as plant holders.

Check out this spice rack though. The Reclamp series is one of 23 finalists in Inhabitat's 2010 Spring Greening Competition. Check them out and vote for your favorites!

In the Sea There's No Such Thing As A Little Bit Of Rubbish

Design really can save the world. Wherther it's people designing earth friendly products or creating campaigns to keep people aware. To keep people Thinking. Check out these beautiful shots fromt the Surfrider Foundation's campaign, "IN THE SEA THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A LITTLE BIT OF RUBBISH." The campaign consists of beautiful images of the ocean waves, they draw the eye in with their use of light, texture and color. Then one realizes after looking a little closer that there's a tire floating int he wave, or maybe a gas can. Simply breathtaking photography too. Round of applause.

No room for a chimney?

Ever since I saw this fireplace on Apartment Therapy I've loved Bioalcohol fireplaces. There is no need for a chimney with the contained burn and the fireplace could go literally anywhere.

Check out this awesome porthole styled fireplace from Redwitz. It's called the Rondo. I can see it looking so cool in a very rustic space. Even repeated a couple times horizontally or covering a large expanse in a grid like pattern.

Wooden Frames

Loving Waiting For Sun!!! They design all of their sunglasses with wooden frames. Their wayfarers for Kulte are totally rad!

NEATO SKEATO! upcycled leather purses

I don't know if many people know this. But I have a bit of a purse fetish. My closet is filled with them. I usually transition constantly between bags. I'm loving these upcycled leather purses from Canadian based Hoakon/Helda. They are made out of vintage leather jackets which I think is such a great idea. I try to avoid buying new leather and this is a really exciting option.
