Floor to ceiling windows? Amazing.

Masking tape rug? Maybe this would be the perfect way to keep cool floors in the summer?

HELLOvintage///1956 DIY Upholstery Manual

I just posted this really cute 1956 DIY manual in the shop. Oregon State University has an Interior Design program which I'm hoping this manual was part of...though it may be affiliated with the now defunct Home Economics major.

If you're into recovering some of that furniture you found at Goodwill with "really good bones" I'd pick this lil guy up. Soft cover, full of black and white photos and really helpful.

HELLOvintage///WE'RE OPEN!

The shop is open!

Keep checking in for new items posted daily!

Bag and Braid///

Check out that braid. Takes my back to being 5. But paired with her sophisticated chiffon blouse it looks sweet and elegant.

Oh and that bag! That leather bag! I saw so many leather duffles like this at the Melrose Flea Market in crazy booths like this.

Most were already loved and worn. So beautiful and only $40 something.

Vintage Jumper///

Just wanted to share a little snapshot from my LA trip. This is my amazing late 80's/early 90's jumper I picked up at an estate sale recently here in Portland.

It's the raddest almost wallpaper-like floral - used to be black background that has now faded to a shade of mauve. I'm assuming the fading is due to Portland summers spent frolicking in this child like play suit.

My pale blue Levi's jacket and brown leather boots are also thrifty finds.

I love that when I look at this photo the only thing that was purchased new is the "B" initial necklace that I picked up at the Silverlake Jubilee.

YAY JORIE!

Jorie's little camping stool made it onto the front page of Etsy!

She has an amazing eye.

Isn't this pastel portrait totally WILD!?! I think it would be such a good conversation piece in a bar.

Shop her rad style here.

What I Picked Up in LA///Jeffrey Campbell

I picked up the last pair of these beauties at XTC on Melrose. The zippers were falling down after wearing them for an hour - I was sooo bummed.  But sweet Daniel of XTC offered to  have them fixed and shipped to me here in Portland. So after mucho debate I decided I couldn't live without them.

I don't know if I'll ever take them off. Oh hey Postman! You have my shoes?

Sunday Sketches

Sorry I've been pretty MIA. A new position on the development team at work has left me feeling like there are zero spaces in my head for blogland at the moment. I spend so much time in front of a computer that all I've been wanting to do lately is sketch, or make things - or just chill.

Sunday night's page in my sketchbook.

I promise I'll be back more frequently as soon as my life gets a little more adjusted.

What I Wore///OPEN SEASON

A shot of me from The Mercury's OPEN SEASON fashion show by Amanda Smith.

I wore my hair in a crown of braids which did not fully encircle my head. So I lined up 3 little bobby pins to keep down the loose end that ended up right over my right temple. I love how it was almost how I would use bobby pins if I was just pulling my bangs to the side.

Necklace is hand carved by Jorie of Anntorian. LOVE. You guys have to check out her vintage shop. It's off the hook. (And yes, that is me on her entry screen wrapped up in one of her beautiful hand woven scarves).

Vintage lace tank with and olive green French bra underneath,

Highwaisted A-line full skirt - hits just below my knee and looks like a PAINT BY NUMBERS PAINTING. It's pretty much the most amazing thing I've ever thrifted.

I'll def have lace tanks and beautiful summer skirts in my shop soon!

Crown of Braids

The Open Season fashion show last night totally surpassed my expectations. I was a little under the weather so I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I could have, but beautiful fashion (and some misses too) were prevalent. Thank god there were coolers of Vitamin Water all over to keep me hydrated. I think my 2 girlfriends and those vitamin waters were the only things that made the heat of hundreds of people and standing for 2 hours ok.

I tried out the braids and put my own little twist on it with 3 little bobby pins to hold back my bangs.

The end of the night and a little exhausted looking.

Love having a reason to dress up other than work or a bar thing.

Open Season 2011///A Portland Fashion Show

I'm stoked for the Open Season fashion show tonight.

Featuring Leanne Marshall and Gretchen Jones of Project Runway fame as well as some of my other favorite
Portland designers.

I'm stoked to see what Bridge and Burn puts out this year.

And if Lindsey Reif's clothes are as rad as her website's opening page I'll be all hers.

I'll be doing my hair like this beautiful lady from one of Jo's rad hair tutorials and pairing it will an amazing vintage skirt I picked up this week. The fabric looks like a paint by numbers painting! I die.

Check It///Clever Nettle

Clever Nettle is a beautiful Portland blog and well curated vintage shop on Etsy.

Anja, the cutie behind the blog, did a really nice post about Portland photographers that are giving people a glimpse into life in Portland. Right off the bat she mentioned Amanda Smith who I had a rad time working with a couple months ago. So fun to see my silly kitchen on Clever Nettle's blog.

That American Flag is covering some terrible mars in the paint that happened when an old roommate took down her art. BAH.  I love the flag with it's tattered corners and yellowed stripes, but I think it would be so much cuter against a white wall versus a purple wall. Don't you think?

Either way, so fun to come across this post and see Amanda getting noted so quickly after starting her blog!  So rad!

Perfect Vintage Oxfords

Can you believe I picked up these beauties at Gwill? Hardly worn and the perfect medium brown. I love the leather wrapped tiny platform toe.

I might have let out a little scream when I saw they were a size 8 (they're never my size!). Perfect new work shoes for under ten bucks. Sorry folks, these hotties are all mine.
