No! It's not a snuggie, it's a booty buddy!

I really love those lazy days wrapped in blankets. You can even ask Ketch, I have been know to use a "chip clip" to attach my Pendleton blanket around my neck and wear it as a cape around the house when I get cold. But with the Booty Buddy I don't need a chip clip anymore! Plus there is no open back to get cold!!! I must have this!

Short Film Beauty: This is for Betsy Hall

I still remember watching this film 10 years ago when it was made. I was 15, my dad ran an event photography company in Eugene, Oregon where I grew up and Hope Hall was his favorite of his photographers. She is a beautiful person with an amazing soul that I remember lighting up the house with her laughter and kindness. I remember blissfully swimming in her pool on a hot summer day and desperately talking to her when I thought about design school in NY. I also remember the tears in my Dad's eyes the first time he showed me her documentary, This is for Betsy Hall. Aside from being one of my dad's photogs, Hope was and still is a documentary film maker. She made this tribute to her mother back then and it still haunts me. It's a beautiful, simple and heartfelt tribute to her mother's lifelong battle with anorexia and bulimia. It won an honorable mention at Sundance back in 2000 as well as awards at a number of other film festivals.

Watch This is For Betsy Hall. I think you'll like it too.

Who's that girl? Interior Designer Celerie Kemble Q&A for J.Crew.

J.Crew has real women modeling for their March catalog. One of which is Interior designer Celerie Kemble who has offices in NYC and Palm beach. She talks about how she got into the biz, what she loves about her job and what she's coveting a la moment!

Let's make it be summer, k?

Beautiful high-waisted swim suits from Hanne Bloch. Wow. Maybe I should sew. Do you think it would work to take brightly colored leotards in a poly blend and cut off the top, just leaving high waisted briefs? I think it might have the same effect.

Succulent Wall @ Teepee

The entrance to Teepee will be a beautiful succulent wall above a water feature in the floor similar to a koi pond. I'll try and get my inspiration for the pond via March Architectual Digest posted on here ASAP.

Pendleton @ Teepee

Utilizing these fabrics and patterns will be a must at Teepee!

Lounging

I want one in my backyard...and if Teepee had an outdoor space...it would be there. How pretty would it be, hanging in the dim light of the mason jar chandeliers? A perfect view of the white adobe seating and modern hanging fireplace? GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Mason Jar Lighting @ Teepee

I've been looking for the perfect application to use mason jars as lighting in a design. I think they will look beautiful inside Teepee Martini Bar.

(Via design sponge and napa style)

martini bar has a name: TEEPEE

You may have seen my post about my desert-commune-oasis themed bar I am designing for school. I have finally come up with an actual theme and name for the martini bar!

I want communal seating...I want a round white adobe bench surrounding a fireplace...I want it to be deserty and coated with pendletons. I don't know why i didn't come up with it sooner...whats round? what has communal seating? what maybe has a fire inside? what has lots of native american patterns? TEEPEES!!!!!!!

Thus, Teepee will be it's name.

It will be beautiful! I'm so excited! Here are some photos I'm using for inspiration via Frances May...

Color Pallets

Check out these awesome wood pallets; painted and reconstructed into modular furniture! I also love (being in color theory right now) the use of the color wheel in their design. I am such a big fan of reusing these often wasted pieces of wood. Ketch and I have plans to build outdoor seating out of them for our back porch and have even built a headboard for our bedroom out of them. More info on that later!

Inspired by Ashley Rose

I want to felt...I want to felt everything! My sister is a costume designer and has utilized felting in many of her designs, dreading wool for wigs or rolling little white tufts of wool into snowballs for a snowball fight in a play. I always watched her in amazement, but never thought I could do anything with it in my interiors. Then I came across Ashley's blog. She makes beautiful hand felted rugs from organic wool and even teaches classes. Her pieces are whimsical and organic, not in any way symetrical even though i'm sure she could do that if she wanted to. She even sells them over at Ashes and Milk. I love how she even covered a set of Eames chairs with her felting technique. STUNNING! I think I will have to learn me some felting, sister?

Tomorrow I will be wearing a version of this. Love.

Oh...and then there's Devendra Banhart via the same blog. His style kills me.

New Header

So I've always wanted to include some of my art in my blog's layout. I'm excited to showcase a drawing of my glasses I did this winter. I was always seen wearing them in the photo on my last header. I'll probably simplify this new header soon. Not sure how I feel about the design at the moment. Not my cup of tea. But the glasses will definitely stay.

*Desert Commune Oasis*

Whew...after a long week of midterms Im sitting back and taking in what I'll be working on for the next couple of weeks. Desert*Commune*Oasis is the theme I just came up with for the "Martini Bar" I'm designing for my Graphic Communications class. My clients are a somewhat madeup couple...a couple I've only seen pictures of but do not really know or have any prior knowledge of. Basically, I liked how they look. I mean, this is a made up project, with made up clients...I just needed to find some people that looked like they might enjoy hanging out at the bar Im designing.

A certain couple instantly came to mind: Trish and Peter. Trish is currently being photographed on a weekly basis by Ryan over at the Panic Room. Matt is the photography who did the beautiful series of his wife's pregnancy. Every week coming out with new photos and a sweet letter to go alonside the photo. I was so enamored with them I made sure to check back every week. He now is doing a new pregnancy series with Trish. Trish each week is walking a little further down her street in a new and beautiful outfit. Letters to her little baby Bean are included as well. I particularly loved the one photo that included both Trish and her hubby Peter. It was awesome to see the man behind the beautiful woman (especially on his skateboard...hunka hunka...you guys make one cute couple).

So...when i finally came up with my theme (a desert oasis with pendleton blankets strewn across shaped cement benches and a varied wood paneled bar), don't ask me why, but I thought of them. So, as I delve further into my concept I will think of them and how they would want THEIR bar to look. So guys(Peter and Trish), hope y'all don't mind, but people are being inspired by you.

For my project I had to invent these people...I came up with the Trish and Peter I imagined would own THIS bar. Who knows if they even drink in real life or even like Pendleton blankets, haha. But here is my concept below.

Desert Commune Oasis

Clients
My clients are Trish and Peter, a couple in their late twenties/early thirties with their first wee one on the way.

Peter is a fun guy with a passion for building, whiskey, records and skateboarding. He’s always had the dream of owning his own bar where his friends can just come “chill”. Lots of transitional seating, a variety of interesting alcohols and treats and room for games and play on the back pation.

Trish is a progressive fashion designer in Portland with an eclectic eye, a love for gardening and a huge urge for a smoky martini (it will have to wait till after little bean comes along). Her dream is to have a mellow, eclectic space that can go from day time play on the bacci ball course and lounging in the hammock to an upscale sexy feel in the evening when the lights go out, the fireplace comes on and all you want to do is snuggle up under a Pendleton Blanket.

And for your viewing pleasure, here are more photos of Trish because she is basically one of the BEST styled pregnant beauties I've ever seen.
